Remarks by Her Excellency Dr. Nkosazana C. Dlamini Zuma,
Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa, Chairperson of the Thirtieth Annual Ministerial Meeting of the Group of 77, During the Presentation of the Appreciation Award to Dr. Eduardo Praselj, Chairman of the PGTF New York, 22 September 2006 "It is my great pleasure to present the Appreciation Award to Dr. Eduardo Praselj, Chairman of the PGTF and to congratulate him. As you aware, Dr. Praselj has been since the last 19 years active in shaping the activities of the Fund. We present to him today this Appreciation Award in recognition of his outstanding achievements as Chairman of the Committee of Experts of PGTF and for his tireless efforts, dedicated service and commitment in supporting the Group’s actions regarding the PGTF. Dr. Praselj has made an outstanding contribution to the work of the Committee of Experts of PGTF as well as to the Chairman’s efforts in mobilizing resources within the context of the fund-raising of the Fund. He has been very successful in interacting with the various organizations and Member States in order to mobilize the necessary support to our efforts and was very instrumental in negotiating co-financing agreements with various organizations. Dr. Praselj has been Chairman of the PGTF for almost 20 years and contributed truly to the strengthening and expansion of the Fund and by appointing him today as Chairman of PGTF. I want to thank Dr. Praselj for the unflagging energy, commitment and leadership that he has brought to bear over the years. The award being presented on this occasion to honour all that Dr. Praselj has done is one measure of the high regard in which he is held, a recognition which he richly deserves." ; H.E.
